Trekking Everest without flight
If you are looking for trekking Everest Base Camp or other part of the region, we Nepal highland treks operate trekking Everest without flight. Drive to Thandanda from Kathmandu take 2 days time. Trekking to Phakding from Thandanda which also skip of reaching Lukla airport. Total plan is for 15 days including driving days. Kathmandu airport is together of International and domestic. In the season of tourism, there are many international and domestic flights operating in different sector which is more than capacities of small Tribhuban international airport. Due to this reason, there is problem of air traffic and delay Lukla flights too. Lukla flights are only at morning time and it does not fly during day time due to heavy wind and foggy weather on the way to Lukla. If the flights are from Ramechaap, there are is no issue of air traffic and flight duration is also the less than from Kathmandu. Second Notice for Lukla flight
Due to taxiway maintenance of Tribhuban International airport, it is going to close all the flights from 22:30 till next morning 06:30 every day effecting from October 01, 2019, till 31st December 2019. For the smooth flight of Lukla, airlines are operating again their lights to Lukla from Manthali Airport Ramechham. This is the second time they are operating flight from there. Airport close from night till the morning will rise more traffic in the morning, flight hold, delay, and more possibility to cancel. Lukla flight should start from early in the morning and have to finish till late morning. When flight holds for any reason, more than 300 trekkers will hold in the same place in this season time.
Skip Lukla flight for Everest region trekking. We provide you package of Everest Base Camp and other region trekking inside Everest National park with both ways driving from to Kathmandu. Everest Trekking without Lukla flights is possible now after road access up to the low Khumbu region.
First Notice for Lukla flight
Only one International and domestic airport in Kathmandu is closing for its renovation (Runway maintenance) work from every day 22 pm till next day morning 8 am which starts from April 1 to June 30, 2019. For this reason, many international and domestic flights will be closed to fly and to land. This hamper tourism sector as the main tourist season April and May months have to fly other domestic airports mainly to Lukla Tenzing Hilari airport. Lukla airport is the only option to fly from Kathmandu to start Everest Base Camp trekking, Everest Expedition, and other Everest reason trekking including Gokyo Lake and famous three passes trek. To solve the problem of Lukla flight from Kathmandu main airlines like Tara and Summit air has announced their flight operation to Lukla from Ramechhap. Ramechhap to Lukla flight time is about 20 minutes. Flights are with the same aircraft that used to fly before from Kathmandu to Lukla.

All the passengers flying to Lukla will be transported to Ramechhap first and then will fly to Lukla. It will take about 4/5 hours’ drive to reach Ramechhap from Kathmandu. We, companies will transfer you to Ramchhap first either very early morning from Kathmandu or one night before depending on the flight time. If your flight time to Lukla is very early morning, we shall transfer you to Ramechap one night before and you’ll need to stay one night at Ramechhap at local hotels/ guesthouse. We will manage meals and accommodation at Ramechhap at least at tourist lodge with twin sharing basis. Similarly, on the flight back to Kathmandu, you’ll fly to Ramechhap first and then drive to Kathmandu on the same day. It is requesting to adjust local and simple accommodation for one night in Ramechhap.

Reaching Ramechhap
Ramechhap is about 5 hours driving from Kathmandu via BP highway. The 153-kilometer road is a good highway road. From Kathmandu, we can plan to start very early in the morning to reach there about 7am to catch the flight after 8am. If we get flight seats before 8 am, it is better to drive a day earlier and stay overnight there. Simple hotels with local foods are available in Ramechhap, Manthali. The private car is always comfortable. In the option to make your budget cost, regular local buses are available in the old bus park Ratnapark.
Ramechhap Airport
The small local domestic airport of Ramechhap is in the bank of Tamakoshi River at Manthali. Now the airport is a well-paved runway and small parking but bigger than Lukla airport. Earlier, Tara, Kashthmandap and Goma airlines used to conduct cargo flights from Ramechhap to Lukla. The cargo service has also been halted now. The year 2018 due to bad weather in Kathmandu flight to Lukla was canceled for many days and it operated also from Ramechhap. It this term flying to Lukla from Ramechhap is not a new route for pilot and airlines. More reliable and short flights from Ramechhap to Lukla will be and hope to have less disturbance due to weather.
Option flying with Helicopter
It also has the option to fly with Helicopter to Lukla from Kathmandu. Helicopter chartered flights are operating every day from Kathmandu to Lukla. About an hour flight is with 5 peoples. The cost for the help flight can be about three times of Kathmandu Lukla one way.
