Everest base camp trekking is one of the most challenging treks in the world. How to trek Everest Base Camp in a Luxury way?
Choose luxury accommodations: Luxury lodges are available now in the route of Everest Base Camp. After flying to Lukla and trekking to Phakding on the first day of the trek, there is Yeti Mountain home to overnight. This lodge is the first luxury lodge till now. On the second day at Namche is also the same lodge available to stay in a luxurious way. On thirst day of this trekking also stay overnight in Namche for acclimatization. The cost of a Yeti Mountain home in Phakding and in Namche is similar to five-star hotels in town. The fourth day of the trek does not get as similar luxury as Namche Phakding but there is to choose the best one near Tengboche called Dibuche.
On the fifth day of trekking, EBC reaches at Dingboche. Some of the Hotels offer luxury accommodation here but do not expect as similar as Phakding and Namche. The sixth day of stay is also in Dingboche for acclimatization at 4410 meters. When you reach Lobuche on the seventh day, Pyramid lodge is the best lodge to choose in the way of Luxury. Most of the rooms here is in group sharing but comparing other lodges in the place, it is good to have a warm bed and good food. Gorakshep is the last lodge for overnight in this trek. This is the night of compromising. There is no luxury accommodation available. More chill night there with the minus temperature. Some of the local lodges provide beds with an electric blanket which makes you more comfortable in this coldest place.
Fly back by Heli after Everest Base camp and Kalapatthar: Trekkers reached the ultimate destination and fulfilled the dream of being base camp of the world’s highest peak Mount Everest and climbing Kalapathar to view the excellency of the panoramic Everest region. After the final reaching of the dream, It is all the way downhill in the same route to trek down to Lukla for another 3 or 4 days. Instead of trekking down, it can fly back by Helicopter from Gorakshep. This is a way to make your EBC trek in a luxury way. Only a small helicopter 5 seater will be able to land and fly back from Everest base camp. This kind of flight has the option to fly only up to Lukla airport and fly back to Kathmandu with a regular flight. This is a way to reduce trip costs. Another option is to continue to fly with the same heli from EBC all the way to Kathmandu.
Flight with Helicopter for both the way: Regular flights to Lukla with tiny aircraft flying on time depending on the weather. You have to be at the airport early in the morning and may be waiting for a long time in the same of flying with a regular Lukla flight. Due to air traffic flying from Kathmandu airport to Lukla mostly gets delayed and even canceled. In the peak touristic season, this flight diverts to Ramechhap airport for two months. It is 5 hours drive from Kathmandu. Trekkers either drive one day before or at midnight from Kathmandu to catch flight time from Ramechhap airport. This makes more adventure and if you choose to fly with Heli to Lukla, this is the way of making this trip in a luxury way. Heli flight goes from Kathmandu, flies almost on time and no need to wait a long time as regular flight.
Hire enough staff for support: When the company organizes the Everest Base Camp trek, there is a professional guide and every two trekkers provide one porter. If you want to make the luxury way of this trek hiring a personal porter or personal supporter is recommended, so that in case of any difficulties he/ she can help you immediately.
