    Autumn is the best time to Trek Everest Base Camp. The month of September, October, and November is the less chill in the Everest Base camp region. Blue sky with crystal clear mountains including Mount Everest's view can be seen in the autumn season. Due to the clear sky, the famous mountain trekking peaks of Everest can explore with the best sunrise and sunset and panoramic view. Autumn is just after raining season in Nepal so the flora and fauna of the Everest trekking path are alive with its best performance.

    September is the beginning month of the autumn season in Nepal and less rainfall. Everest Base Camp trekking is better to start from mid of September. Among the three months of this season, October is the best month to choose for all regions trekking in Nepal which definitely includes Everest Base Camp. Due to the best season for trekking, the Everest region is also with a huge number of trekkers. The month of November is still a good time to trek Everest. From the end of November, the region may start to get snowfall. Peoples still trek there up to December end.

    The entire Everest region is with the facilities of local tea house types of Guesthouses to accommodate. It is also possible now a day to get luxury accommodation almost every night. Use local foods prepared at the dining of local guest houses. Bottled drinks are available in their small bar.     Day to remember in Everest Base Camp trekking
    When you hike for a total of six days (not including your acclimatization hikes), every day is to remember. View of the panoramic mountain including Mount Everest starts to view from the second day of trekking. The landscape changes every day. The Lowland region is more greenery with huge trees inside thick forests. You are going to walk beside of clean mountain River. When you hike the upper part of the region, the land becomes less vegetation and at rocky. On the second day of the trek can see a glimpse of Mount Everest just for one time. When you start to hike thirst day to the best viewpoint of Everest, this is the day you remember well. A closer view of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Amadablam, Thamserku, and more is around you for the whole day. Another remembered day is in Tengboche. Tengboche at the top of the hill with different views of the mountains, visit big monasteries and explore evening chatting inside the monastery. Dingboche is also another place to stay with remarks.     How cold is Everest base camp in October?
    Trekking Everest base camp, the best month of October is still cold. Below 4000-meter altitudes like Lukla, Phakding Namche, and Tengboche you can expect a minimum temperature 2-degree centigrade and a maximum temperature of up to 15 degrees. The upper section of the Everest region after Tengboche can expect minus 7 degrees and the maximum temperature plus 10 degrees. This temperature is based on good weather. The minimum temperature is at midnight. One morning when you start to climb Kalapathar, that starts at about 4 am and you will feel too much cold. During the day when you are walking does not feel that much cold.

    How cold is Mount Everest Base Camp?
    The minimum temperature in Everest base camp is minus 7 degrees in its best trekking season. The best season to trek EBC is in autumn and spring season. Near the Everest base camp, you will be suffering more from dry wind than cold temperatures. The dining hall in the entire guesthouse is warm enough. They make a fire inside the big dining to make enough warm but your room is without any hitting system. This is the reason you have to have warmed enough sleeping bags with inner. They also provide you with a blanket if you’re sleeping bag is not enough for you.

    What is the coldest month on Mount Everest?
    The coldest month in Mount Everest is the month of January and February. The winter season is months of December to February in Nepal and these two months are much colder. Peoples trek up to December to Everest Base Camp. But trekking in the month of Jan, Feb sometime is impossible due to heavy ice on the trekking trail. Trekking Everest Base Camp is cold months and has its own benefit. The daytime temperature in Everest Base Camp is around minus 12 degrees and nighttime is also not low either. The views of mountains in the winter season are great and the region is fewer trekkers.

    What is the warmest month on Mount Everest?
    The warmest months on Mount Everest are in months of autumn and spring. March to May month and September to November months are the warmest time in Everest and these months are the best trekking season. The month of March is more flow of people due to the climbing season of Mount Everest. The warmest temperature you will feel in Everest base camp is plus 16 degrees during the daytime and minus 7 degrees during the nighttime. Since the EBC region after Dingboche is less vegetation, sandy rocky land, and dry wind makes it hard in walking and feels colder than the real temperature.

    • Day 01:Arrival in Kathmandu Nepal. Overnight at hotel 1450m

      Representative of Nepal highland treks receive you from the international airport. Your hotel is about 7 kilometer far from airport and it may takes about 25 minutes to reach. After refreshment, involve in trip briefing, introduce with your guide, final preparation of the trip. Flight to Lukla is early in the morning and you have to be ready before breakfast time. We will provide you departure time for tomorrow at the time of trip briefing.   

    • Day 02:Fly to Lukla (2,860m) and trek to Phakding (4 Hours – 2652m. Overnight at guesthouse

      It is 35 minutes flight to Lukla airport from Kathmandu. Meet your porter and handover your big bag to carry. It is another 4 hours trekking to reach Phakding where we overnight tonight. You are not able to see the mountain views today but no less view of local villages, green forest, River bank and suspension bridges over deepest River George. The first day of trek does not increase altitude. Your take off at 2860 meter and overnight at less altitude of Phakding. 

    • Day 03:Trek Phakding to Namche Bazar (6/7 hours – 3,440m) overnight at guest house

      Trekking route today is slightly longer and more challenging than the trail you did Lukla to Phakding. The first section of the trail takes you with the mountainside small villages, forests, and Dudh Koshi River. Numerous decorative suspension bridges you get to cross today. Manjo village is the first checking point of your Everest national park permits. It is either to stamp in your permit already prepared from Kathmandu or buy a new from here. After crossing those villages and across the last suspension bridge, trek gets tougher. Trekking path will be very steep and zig zags. It is all the way up to reaching Namche. First view of Mount Everest also can be seen today at middle of uphill.  

    • Day 04:Namche acclimatization day. Hike to Everest viewpoint (3,880m) and back to Namche for overnight in guesthouse

      It is very important to get your body fit in the altitude. You are already in 3,440 meter in these two days. Overnight here for two nights will get your body fit in the altitude, so that your further trek can get success. Today hike to Khumjung, Khungde village. This is also to see best Everest view point. Hiking up to 3,880 meters, walking around in the same height for whole day and get down to Namche for overnight is best way to adjust your body. Explore beautiful Sherpa villages, monasteries, and local school and off course surrounding views of high mountains including the world highest peak. Walking down to Namche for overnight. 

    • Day 05:Trek Namche to Tengboche (5/6 Hours – 3,860m) overnight at guesthouse

      Today will be one of the toughest days of trekking. The serious uphill and gain about 420 meters in altitude. However, the day is one of the most rewarding as you get stunning views of Mount Everest and other ranges. Probably the best view of Everest that you will get until you reach Gorakhshep, Everest Base Camp and Kalapathar.  Normal uphill up to Sanasa villages, where can take tea break and enjoy the views. Trail become down to cross bridge over Dhudh koshi River. Serious uphill over loses rocky way to reach Tengboche today. There are only few lodges to overnight. 

    • Day 06:Trek Tengboche to Dingboche ( 5/6 hours – 4,410m) overnight at guesthouse

      Today’s walk is lovely and takes you through some ancient forests. Cross the river and then make the gradual ascent to the village of Pangboche (3985 meters), home to the Khumbu's oldest monastery. Tengboche to Pangboche is roughly 3 hours so the village is a perfect place to stop for lunch. After lunch continue north-west on barren, high mountain terrain which feels much wilder and less vegetation. After short final climb, path reaches to Dingboche. This is the quite big villages less buildings and plenty cultivated land with closer view of giant mountains.   

    • Day 07:Day acclimatization at Dingboche. Hiking Chukkung valley and overnight in guesthouse

      A rest day in Dingboche is very important so that a good idea for your day off is to leisure walk towards the north-east up the Imja valley towards the small village of Chukhung, from where it is possible to look up at the impossibly huge south face of Lhotse. You will hike up to 5000 meters altitude so different and good views of Lobuche, east, Lobuche west, Amadablam, Thamaserkhu, Kangtega, Taboche peak can be explore. Hike back to Dingboche by lunch time and take rest. 

    • Day 08:Trek Dingboche to Lobuche (4/5 Hours – 4,910m) overnight at guest house

      Slightly up hill to gain another 500 meters altitude and you are already walking at high altitude land with less oxygen region so make sure to take it slowly and do not use much energy too quickly. Enjoy a great view of where you came from and the place you are going for. Visit the collection of memorials of climbers who have died in the Everest region with the scenic prayer flags on wind. You almost finish up hill walking by this point. Further follow the flatter ground, path might by icy moraine for another one hour to reach Lubuche. A fantastic view of Nuptse can be seen from Lobuche

    • Day 09:Trek Lobuche to Gorakhshep and to Everest Base Camp (5,360m). Back to Gorakhshep (5,180m) and overnight in guesthouse

      The day to reach the base camp of Everest. It is about 3 hours walking to Gorakhshep from Lobuche, where we put our stuff inside the room, have early lunch. All the hikers stop here for overnight and hike to base camp and climb Kalapathar. The entire trek today up to base camp is steadily along the glacier. Trekking trail to EBC through extremely loose sand over Khumbu glacier, it is 2 hours walking one way and the same time to back Gorakhshep. Once you reach Base Camp, you will spend some time enjoying the Base Camp of the World’s highest mountain and maybe hiking around the glacier if it is safe. View of Mount Everest, Lhotse is stunning from here. 

    • Day 10:Climb Kalapathar (2 Hours – 5,545m) and trek down to Pheriche (4 Hours -4,210m ) Overnight at guest house

      Climbing Kalapathar is one of the highlights of this trip. Start very early in the morning and reach to the top before sunrise. 2 hours of the hike is very difficult for most of the trekkers. Starting about 
      4am from Gorakhshep with hot water and some dry food is recommended. The best view of Mount Everest and other panoramic Himalayas with sunrise from Kalapathar and trekking back to Gorakhshep. Further trekking to Pheriche after your breakfast and packing. The same way back till Lobuche and different way to skip Dingboche village. 

    • Day 11:Trekking back to Namche (8/9 Hours – 3,410m) and overnight at guesthouse

      It is a long day trekking from Pheriche. We are almost walking double camp, as it is the lower altitude you are reaching and most of downhill. You feel to reach Namche to have a good room, good shower, good foods, and walking around the café and bakery. The first part of trekking is uphill out of Pheriche and downhill up to crossing bridge before reaching Tengboche Monastery. It is better to reach at Riverside after 1 hours hiking down for your Lunch. Another 1 hours trekking uphill to meet another 30 minutes down hill to reach Namche Bazar.

    • Day 12:Trekking back to Lukla (7 Hours – 2,860m) overnight at guesthouse

      Your body feels more powerful and energetic in your walking in this low altitude region. After breakfast at a normal time, trekking start to back Lukla today. It is also long day walking start downhill to the Hilary Bridge over Dudh Koshi River. Rest of the trekking trail is longer ups and down back to Lukla.  It is a final night to spend in your trekking today. Your guide will manage to reconfirm your air ticket back to Kathmandu for tomorrow morning and provide you airport time. Airport is very nearby from your lodge. 

    • Day 13:Fly back to Kathmandu early in the morning and stay relax. Overnight at Hotel

      Lukla to Kathmandu flights starts around 7 am. It is 35 minutes' time to get back Kathmandu. Flight starting time is depending on the weather. If the weather is perfect for flight, you will get back to Kathmandu Hotel by 9 am. Transfer to the Hotel and rest

    • Day 14:Reserve day in Kathmandu and visit heritage sites. Overnight at Hotel

      It is reserve day but we plan to visit three heritage sites inside Kathmandu valley. If your flight back from Lukla to Kathmandu is disturbed in your original time in any case, reserve day today help to manage. We cover biggest Hindu temple, biggest Buddhist stupa and oldest palace squire. Tour guide from Nepal highland treks will lead you to the tour and transfer to the Hotel by late afternoon. 

    • Day 15:day of departure

      It is important to reach three hours before to the airport from your flight time. Nepal highland treks manage your drop to international airport for your final departure.

    Useful Information

    Foods in the trip
    We are providing you breakfast in Kathmandu and three times foods (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) in our package. 3 cups of tea or coffee is including in your meal. Extra cost is for extra hot drinks, your drinking water, or any foods you buy personally. Foods on the trek are prepared by restaurant inside guesthouses. It is level of hygiene and local tests. Meet in the Everest region is not fresh. It does not allow scarifying any animal in this region and peoples carry all the way from other parts.

    Drinking water
    Drinking water is extra paid from our package. Bottled mineral water is also available in the region. Cost of bottled mineral water is high. Boiled filtered water is also available comparatively low cost than bottled mineral water. It is important to drink at least 3 to 4-liter water every day. A litter warm water keeping inside thermos and cold water bottle. Every step in every one-hour places to buy or fill water. If you are willing to use local tap water by purifying it by tablet, that is also possible.

    Nepal Visa
    Visa for Nepal can be obtained on arrival. 15 Days visa cost USD 30 per person. Cost of a Nepali visa for 1-month multiple is USD 50 per person. As your trekking itinerary is 15 day, it is suitable to take 15 days visa. You also can apply Nepal visa online which will avoid long queues to take visas on arrival at Nepal Airport. Do visit the link for your online visa. https://online.nepalimmigration.gov.np/tourist-visa. Make sure online application is only valid for 15 days. So fill online Nepali visa form just before 15 days counting your arrival in Nepal. There are few country passport holders, who do not get an arrival visa. For Indian passport holders, no need for any visa to come to Nepal.  

    Trekking to Everest Base Camp Packing List

    Bag
    Small bag: A comfortable back carrying bag to maintain ¾ kilogram to carry yourself during the trek. Water bag, one extra set cloth, some dry foods for your day, a camera, and your important documents.

    Big bag: Come any of the big bags to Nepal with your stuff. We will provide you free bag for trekking. You can keep your trekking stuff and hand over to your porter to carry. The bag you took from home can deposit in your Hotel in Kathmandu.  

    Shoes: Autumn season in Everest Base Camp is less rain. It is not necessary to take a waterproof boot for this trek. A comfortable warm trekking shoe is enough. One extra pair of very light shoe is required to use it morning/ evening during staying in the guesthouse.   

    Clothes
    You are doing trekking in cold temperature although you also need some light clothes to wear during day time. Here is the total list of clothes to pack. Down Jacket, the Sleeping bag can take hire or buy it from the equipment shop in Kathmandu. Other trekking equipment is also available to buy from shops around Thamel, Kathmandu.

    To book this trip, we need your passport copy by email and a trip confirmation amount of USD 150 per person. You can pay us a trip confirmation amount by bank transfer or by the online credit card system. The rest of the payment can make after your arrival in Kathmandu. Paying by credit card, bank transfer, or by any cash.  

    Cancellation policy
    Free cancellation if you cancel your trip 2 months before your trip starts. USD 150 per person is the cancellation charge if you cancel your trip after 2 months' time. You have the option to transfer your advance amount for the next trip or replace it for another friend you refer to.
